ABOUT US
Fia is the Irish word for deer. Deer are resilient and strong, independent and self-reliant, at home in the hills. It also means ‘to run wild’. Perhaps you’re reading this sitting at your desk, or commuting from work, or lying on the couch. Let’s get you into the mountains.
Fia Mountaineering offers guided day and night hikes in the Irish mountains, certified Mountaineering Ireland Mountain Skills courses, and bespoke days of adventure for groups, corporates, and individuals.
Wherever you want to be in this list you’ll be treated and valued as you. You’ll get the best possible training, adventure, and day – or night – out in the mountains.
Fia Mountaineering is run by Cormac Lynch, a qualified Mountain Leader who has been hiking, rock climbing, & mountaineering for over a quarter of a century in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the Alps, the Dolomites, Africa, & North America. He is head of cliff rescue in one of the Mountain Rescue Teams covering the Dublin & Wicklow area. He is an Emergency Medical Technician, a River Safety and Rescue instructor, and an all-round nice guy but with no qualification to prove that. He sailed to Wales and back when he was 17, is a trainee Scottish Winter Mountain Leader, worked as a solicitor for 10 years, and plays bass ukulele. It exists.
He is also the person behind 32 Summits with 32 Friends: an odyssey around Ireland climbing the highest mountain in every county, each one with a different friend – www.Facebook.com/32Summits
You will be in safe hands, and Cormac’s well-reviewed, easy-going teaching and guiding style has been honed over many years through many disciplines.
So…you’re going to be safe, have fun, and learn loads. Winner!
